STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENT & ASSIGNMENTS

We encourage you to use the ctcLink student announcement and assignment reminding students to activate their ctcLink IDs.

The announcement can be found on the ctcLink Faculty webpage, under “Helping Students Transition to ctcLink.”

Faculty can find the student assignment by searching for the BC ctcLink Student Assignment in Canvas Commons. We suggest adding a due date of November 23. Here are instructions how to import the assignment from Commons.

A second assignment was developed to help students search for and enroll in winter classes.

Faculty can find the student assignment by searching BC ctcLink Student Assignment 2 (Class Search and Enrollment) in Canvas Commons. We suggest adding a due date of November 30. Here are instructions how to import the assignment from Commons.

ENROLLMENT HISTORY (PREREQUISITE CHECK)

It is possible to access a student’s history via the Advising Center through ctcLink. Here are the steps on how to access it from the ctcLink Gateway

  • Go to the Advisor Home Page
  • Find the Advisor Center Tile
  • Click on Student Center
  • Enter the student’s ctcLink ID
  • Click the Search button
  • Click the down arrow in the dropdown box, located on the left side of the page to select Course History
  • Click on the blue double arrow next to the drop down box

Faculty may want to verify that their students have met the Enrollment Requirements during the first week of the quarter.

PERMISSION CODES

The old permission/entry codes are now part of a single process called Class Permissions.

A presentation on the process will be held Nov. 23 from 10 – 10:45 a.m. Click here to join the Zoom meeting.

This meeting will be recorded and the recording will be posted to the BC ctcLink website.

CTCLINK TERMINOLOGY

You can find a “cheat sheet” on terminology on the ctcLink Faculty webpage, under the “How Do I?” tab. Here’s a primer on some of the more common terms:

  • ctcLink takes the place of HP (also known as the Legacy System).
  • ctcLink is made up of multiple software, the primary being PeopleSoft.
  • Instructor Briefcase functions (class rosters and grade rosters) are Faculty Center functions (accessed by clicking on CS Staff Homepage, then Faculty Center).
  • Divisions are called Groups and Departments are called Orgs.
  • SIDs have been replaced by ctcLink IDs.
  • Class Search:
    • Departments are listed as Subjects.
    • Course # is listed as Catalog #.
    • Item # is listed as Class #.
  • Credits become Units.
  • ctcLink numbering system:
    • The first digit is the millennium (e.g., 2).
    • The second two digits are the academic year (e.g., Winter 2022 = 22).
    • The last digit indicates the term (ctcLink uses 1 for Winter, 3 for Spring, 5 for Summer, and 7 for Fall).
  • Prerequisites are Enrollment Requirements.
  • Register/Registration is Enroll/Enrollment.
