If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people.

WEBSITE OVERHAUL
The BC ctcLink website has received a major overhaul. It’s worth checking out the new additions to the Faculty section, including:
Important Faculty Events – a calendar of ctcLink dates and events
Faculty Training – information on ctcLink training
Faculty: “How Do I…?” – step-by-step guides for common faculty tasks
Faculty Resources – a list of support options for faculty
STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENT
The Faculty Advocates team has developed a sample student announcement regarding the transition to ctcLink. It is recommended that you post it in your Canvas class as well as make an announcement in class on Nov. 17. This will go a long way in bringing students up to speed.
SAMPLE ANNOUNCEMENT
Bellevue College students will transition to a new software system called ctcLink on Nov. 17. Eventually, all 34 technical and community colleges across the state will operate using this software system.
This is an exciting change! If you are registered at multiple colleges within the state, your ctcLink ID will remain the same. This means if you transfer between colleges, you will not have to learn a new system.
The system will visually look the same across all 34 colleges and have a fresh new face and a mobile app for the following processes:
- Registering for classes
- Viewing and updating your student information Managing personal contact information
- Paying tuition and fees
- Accessing/applying for financial aid
- Viewing your grades
- Tracking academic goals
- Applying for graduation
- Contacting your instructors and/or advisor
To prepare, I posted an assignment to help you get started with obtaining your ctcLink ID and logging in to Canvas.
I am happy to help guide you through this process. Please let me know if you have any questions.
STUDENT ASSIGNMENT
Faculty can find the student assignment by searching BC ctcLink Student Assignment in Canvas Commons. A key suggestion is to add a due date of Nov. 23.
Click here for instructions on how to import the assignment from Commons.
HP IS GOING AWAY
HP will be disconnected on Nov. 4. After this point, Instructor Briefcase will no longer be accessible to faculty. Information was sent out regarding downloading rosters, but that is no longer necessary.
If you would like to check your ctcLink roster against HP roster, check with your program chair.
SAVE THE DATE
An all-faculty meeting centered on “ctcLink Faculty Support” has been scheduled for Nov. 15 (two days before student go-live).
Subjects of interest will include core faculty features in ctcLink and how to best support your students during the transition.
Look for an invitation email from Rob Viens’ office.
CLASS SCHEDULE
The class schedule has a new look – and it’s now live. Explore course offerings in an updated, more mobile-friendly format.
This change is part of the college’s transition to ctcLink. While there are still a few weeks before account activation starts, early access to the public class schedule:
- Allows users to get familiar with a new interface and terms.
- Helps students identify courses and explore course information, which can help them register for Winter Quarter.
- Assists faculty in verifying that course information in ctcLink is accurate.
Other important updates:
- The link to the class schedule on BC’s website’s main navigation redirects to the ctcLink public class schedule.
- Links to general course information lead to an intermediary page that provides a link to the course in the online catalog (example: ACCT 202).
- Links to courses in a particular quarter lead to an intermediary page that provides instructions on how to confirm their search in the new public class schedule. (example: Winter 2022 Accounting Courses).
- There are now three ways to find classes: Class Search, Browse Classes, and Course Catalog.
