Queer & Trans People of Color Conference (QTPOCC) Conference! April 26, 2024

Mission & Theme

We are happy to announce and invite you to the first QTPOC conference for faculty and staff employees who work in Higher Education! Our One-day conference will cover topics on the theme of:

“_____ is resistance!”

Which identifies the ways in which Queer and Trans people of color can have an impact on, and are impacted by, the current social and political climate, as a result of the unique experiences that come with holding intersecting identities. We aim to highlight the many ways QTPOC show up in all spaces to push back against oppression with love, joy, and community care.

We are here, we are proud, we are resistance!

Background

The QTPOC Conference inception is based on a need identified by Washington State’s Faculty & Staff of Color Conference (FSOCC). It is organized to focus on people of color who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. The conference focuses on college campus people (faculty & staff), with the aim to share and build skills and knowledge through educational workshops, presentations, and discussions.  This will provide participants with tools to navigate societal and institutional barriers that queer people of color encounter on campus and in larger communities.

Goal

The conference goal is to help attendees connect while fostering community and provide a safer space for engaging and learning, to uplift and center on QTPOC employees in higher education to leave feeling empowered to make a change at any level.
