About the EEAC

The Equity Education Advisory Committee (EEAC) supports Bellevue College in fulfilling its responsibilities to lead intentionally and ensure equity and fairness in all opportunities within student learning and employee workspaces. The EEAC encourages meaningful dialogue to create a future in which social identities are not predictive of employee advancements or student outcomes at Bellevue College.  Members of the EEAC will be expected to plan and evaluate diverse and adaptive learning opportunities across the College and make ongoing, differentiated equity education accessible to all students, faculty, staff, and administrators.

EEAC Responsibilities:

Ensure that all students and employees are allowed to engage in Equity Education.

Track and evaluate students’ and employees’ ongoing participation in Equity Education and its impact on their teaching and learning experiences and campus climate.

Identify and work to eliminate root factors of disparate outcomes.

Form workgroups to understand and respond to issues brought to the committee’s attention.

This will typically involve working with representatives for specific tasks (from DEI to related fields/departments), drafting reports on recommendations for further action or discussion by the EEAC, or reporting on current activities currently before the EEAC.

It is the responsibility of the workgroups to be familiar with issues related to the interests of the EEAC and their recommendations for consideration regarding students, employees, and/or services.

Committee Expectations:

For the academic year 2023-2024, the committee will have time, work, and behavioral expectations to maintain direction and work within the EEAC.

Meeting Frequency: Two hours every two weeks. Additional communications and preparations between meetings will be expected.

Guiding Document: Members are expected to use the recommendations, suggestions, and framework established at the Summer 2020 Equity Retreat moving forward, as stated in Proposal 1246.

Confidentiality Promise: Members are expected to keep discussions private. A breach may result in separation from the committee or reapplication to the committee.

Transparency Promise: Outcomes will be made public.
