Attendance Policy

Students are expected to attend all classes, labs and clinical practice courses. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain information or assignments that are missed due to absence. The student must notify each instructor and/or clinical supervisor of an absence. It is the instructor’s prerogative to determine whether or not an examination can be “made up” due to an absence.

For more specific information on attendance for clinical courses see section titled Attendance for Clinical Practice Courses.

Punctuality

Punctuality is a valued professional behavior and an expectation in the Radiation Therapy Program. It is expected that students will arrive on time and participate in classroom discussions. Chronic lateness disrupts the flow of the classroom and is disrespectful to classmates. Your instructor, reserves the right to not allow you to enter the classroom due to chronic lateness. This applies to all scheduled class times.

Course Exams and Proctoring

Integrity of exam taking is ensured through proctoring, oral exam or other methods deemed appropriate by course instructor. Course exams will be proctored by an instructor or official proctor during the exam including hybrid and online courses. Online exams taken by the students will utilize college/program’s electronic devices in a proctored setting. If a student is unable to attend a scheduled exam, the student is responsible for notifying the instructor and proctor. Make up exams are at the discretion of the instructor.

Student problems in the clinical education settings should be addressed as soon as possible. We request that the student first discuss the matter with the clinical supervisor. If this does not resolve the problem, it should be taken to the clinical coordinator and then to the program chair. The student has the right to utilize Bellevue College’s Grievance Procedure. Please see link above.

Graduation and Certification

Graduation

It is the student’s responsibility to check the ARRT website for information regarding the ARRT exam. We encourage you to start this process in January of the year you will graduate.

ARRT Certification/Registration in Radiation Therapy

Please note: Our program meets criteria for national certification, some states do have additional requirements beyond the national standard. It is the student’s responsibility to be knowledgeable in meeting criteria for states other than the state of Washington.

Washington State requires state certification to work.  It is the responsibility of the student to obtain the appropriate credentials. See your employer for the appropriate forms.

Students who anticipate working outside of the United States should keep copies of course objectives and clinical treatment logs which are available through Trajecsys. Most countries require rigorous documentation for certification.  International students, who anticipate working in the United States, should apply for work visas 60 days prior to graduation.
