Certificate recipients should possess the skills & abilities described below:

  1. Identify basic needs of adults and apply that knowledge while providing daily care to residents, patients, and clients
  2. Employ safety and infection control procedures
  3. Communicate effectively with residents, patients, clients, and other members of the health care team
  4. Recognize emergency situations and procedures and respond appropriately
  5. Demonstrate professional behavior
  6. Recognize and respond to the individual needs of residents, patients and clients in a culturally sensitive manner
  7. Use the principles of restorative and rehabilitative care
