Virtual Brainstorming Meets AI & AR: An Educational Experiment

freeform

In this educational experiment, we explore the intersection of virtual brainstorming, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Augmented Reality (AR). Our video demonstrates the process of capturing, designing, and experiencing landmarks in AR through the integration of multiple technologies.

This demo serves as an example of how diverse tech tools can be used for remote collaboration and the creation of immersive educational experiences. Here’s an overview of the tools we utilized:

1. Apple Freeform: This digital whiteboarding application served as the cornerstone of our experience. Its collaboration features enabled us to collaborate from different corners of the world.
Apple FaceTime: We relied on this video chatting platform to facilitate seamless communication among the participants.
2. Polycam: To bring the statue to life in three dimensions, we utilized Polycam, a 3D capture application.
3. Blockade Labs: Leveraging the power of AI, we employed Blockade Labs’ solution to generate the 360° skybox from a text prompt. This AI-powered feature transformed the space around the statue, enhancing the overall immersive experience.
4. Blender: we used this versatile and open-source 3D creation suite to combine the statue and the 360° environment and exported the 3D model as a USDZ file.
Augmented Reality (AR): Harnessing the native AR capabilities of iOS, we visualized the 3D model, bringing them to life in the real world.

This educational experiment showcases the potential of combining virtual brainstorming, AI, and AR in the realm of education. The tools and technologies we’ve highlighted not only promote remote collaboration but also foster immersive and interactive learning experiences.
