A NEW APP FOR STUDENTS

BC students will now be able to navigate to the information most relevant to them, including a login of their ctcLink account, through a mobile app. Students can access a collection of tiles that link to BC information and services, including:

  • ctcLink login (tile available mid-November)
  • Canvas
  • The Academic Calendar
  • Class Search (Schedule)
  • BC Email
  • Student Support (ex. Academic Advising)
  • And more!

Think of it as a mobile hub or launching point for high-touch student areas. Download the ctcLink app through the Apple store (iPhone/Apple devices) or Google Play (Android). You can also access this hub on your desktop or mobile browser.

Encourage students to bookmark https://wa080.ctclink.us/ on their preferred browser and download the ctcLink app on their mobile devices. It helps get them to the destinations most relevant to their student experience.

USE WITH CAUTION: DEGREE AUDIT

Academic records in Degree Audit, BC’s online advising tool that allows students to view degree and certificate requirements, will not be updated after Nov. 4 and won’t have any Fall Quarter information posted within the tool.

Please encourage students to make an appointment with an academic advisor should they need assistance. A tutorial will be available soon to assist staff and students as an interim solution while a new system is being built.

The new tool, Academic Advisement Report (AAR), is currently under construction.

DOWNLOAD YOUR DATA

Faculty should download data, such as class rosters, from HP on Nov. 1. This data will be used to verify all information transferred over correctly to ctcLink after go live.

The HP will be deactivated at 12 p.m. on Nov. 4.

FINANCIAL AID UPDATE

Offers and disbursements for Student Financial Aid stop on Wednesday, Oct. 27 and start again in late November.

Though many departments will work in ctcLink only after Nov. 9, BC Financial Aid will be “dual processing.” Staff work continues in both ctcLink and FAM, the financial aid software, until Spring 2022 when they transition fully to ctcLink.

For now, students should continue to login to the FAM portal to access their information for the current academic year. BC staff should encourage students who applied for financial aid for Winter Quarter to register as soon as possible.

Financial aid files of students who have registered and have a completed file by the Winter deadline are prioritized. If a student is denied financial aid after the quarter begins, they may choose to pay with other payment options or have the opportunity
to withdraw without financial penalty.

More information can be found on the financial aid website.

CLASS SEARCH NOTIFICATIONS

The class schedule has a new look – and it’s now live. Explore course offerings in an updated, more mobile-friendly format.

An information session, Old Link, New Tool: Class Search Transition, will be held on Thursday, Oct. 28 from 9-10 a.m. (Session #1) and 3-4 p.m. (Session #2) for faculty and staff. Click on the buttons below to register.

Session #1

Session #2

This change is part of the college’s transition to ctcLink. While there are still a few weeks before account activation starts, early access to the public class schedule:

  • Allows users to get familiar with a new interface and terms.
  • Helps students identify courses and explore course information, which can help them register for Winter Quarter.
  • Assists faculty in verifying that course information in ctcLink is accurate.

Other important updates:

  • The link to the class schedule on BC’s website’s main navigation redirects to the ctcLink public class schedule.
  • Links to general course information lead to an intermediary page that provides a link to the course in the online catalog (example: ACCT 202).
  • Links to courses in a particular quarter lead to an intermediary page that provides instructions on how to confirm their search in the new public class schedule. (example: Winter 2022 Accounting Courses).
  • There are now three ways to find classes: ‘Class Search’, ‘Browse Classes’, and ‘Course Catalog’.
