CAN’T GET TO FACULTY CENTER – OR TILES MISSING?

BC’s home page ctcLink button defaults to a student view. Users who click the ctcLink button on this page will be taken to a mobile version of ctcLink (even though the login page is identical to desktop login).

The mobile site features student-side apps such as class search, but most Gateway tools such as Faculty Center will not appear.

To get to the desktop version of ctcLink, please do the following:

  • Bookmark either of the above linked pages for easy, regular sign-ins.

Users who do not log out completely from the mobile version of the site may be taken back to the mobile site automatically upon logging back in (even when using one of the above methods).

To remedy this, we recommend:

Log back in to ctcLink and look for the “log out” button or link (this location will vary depending on where you are on the site).

After logging out, clear your cache (see below).

Close all instances of your browser.

Most importantly – Log in using myaccount.ctcLink.us instead of the BC student home page.

PASSWORD NOT WORKING?
TRY CLEARING YOUR CACHE!

ctcLink uses a large number of cookies which help the application “remember” your preferences and make the site run more smoothly, but these cookies can fill up your cache (a behind-the-scenes repository of website data) and cause problems when logging in.

One known symptom of this is your password may no longer work. Here are some links to instructions for clearing your cache using the most common browsers:

Another workaround for cookie management is to open an “incognito” or “private browser” window because the cache will be automatically cleared when you close the window out.

Alternatively, you can use a separate browser just for ctcLink  (separate from Canvas or other work-related browsing).

In addition, make certain that your operating system and browser are up-to-date. This is good practice for security purposes, as well.

We have developed a more detailed training document on this topic. You can view the document on the ctcLink website.

CLASS PERMISSION/
PERMISSION CODES

The old permission/entry codes are now part of a single process called Class Permissions. A presentation on the process was held on Nov. 23. View a recorded  presentation of the meeting on the BC ctcLink website.
