Successful Applications

A BC student stands on a pier and smiles.

What Happens Now?

Congratulations! You’ve received and accepted a scholarship from the BC Foundation. What’s next?

During the summer before you receive your scholarship funds, you will be contacted by the Foundation with information about what to expect as a Foundation Scholar and what will be required of you over the course of the year.

You will be asked to sign the Scholar Agreement, which explains the terms of the scholarship.

Foundation Scholars are required to attend the annual Donor & Scholar Reception in November of each year you receive a Foundation Scholarship. In addition, the Foundation expects scholars to communicate and work closely with the Foundation as requested. Lastly, the Foundation also expects scholars to:

  • Remain in good academic standing, as defined by the Bellevue College Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
  • Act with honesty and integrity.
  • Demonstrate character and leadership.
  • Be concerned about and engaged in their community.
  • Maintain a good disciplinary record.
  • Work cooperatively with Foundation staff.

These responsibilities are outlined in the Scholar Agreement, which each selected scholar is required to sign before receiving their funds.

All scholarship recipients receiving the BC Foundation Scholarship are invited to provide an impact statement to the donor or donors who support their scholarships.

All BC Foundation scholarships has been provided by generous donors. As a part of the BC Foundation Scholarship program, when your donor(s) agreed to provide this scholarship, they were offered the opportunity to get to know their scholar.

Instructions for completing your Impact Statement will be provided on the Agreement Form. You will also have the opportunity to provide a current picture of yourself, which you can upload along with the impact statement should you choose to do so.

Your scholarship funds will be sent directly to the Financial Aid office prior to the start of the academic year and added to your Financial Aid Award letter which can be viewed in your Financial Aid Portal.

Please allow processing time for the Financial Aid Office to apply the scholarship funds to your student account and revise your financial aid. In some cases, the funds may not be applied to your account until after the start of the term. Please follow up with the Financial Aid Office to determine the timing of the scholarship payment.

Your scholarship will be divided equally over the number of terms of enrollment (i.e. Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters; funds are not available Summer Quarter). Generally, the Financial Aid Office will use your scholarship funds to pay towards your tuition charges about a week before the quarter begins. If your scholarship funds, combined with any other financial aid you might have, do not cover all your tuition, you are responsible for paying the remaining balance.

Students who have been selected to receive a BC Foundation Scholarship may use a portion of their scholarship funds each term to purchase their books in the BC Bookstore.

Foundation Scholarship funds may only be used in the BC Bookstore and cannot be used as a voucher for any other bookseller.

Please note that any funds used to purchase books from the BC Bookstore will be reduced from your total scholarship award. Please plan ahead to ensure that you have sufficient funds to cover your expected BC charges on your student account if you choose to use this option for purchasing your textbooks. The Foundation is not able to supplement your scholarship funds to assist in buying textbooks.

Obtain a Textbook Voucher

  1. Find the textbooks required for your courses for the upcoming quarter on the BC Bookstore Website. Take a screenshot of the books and their prices.
  2. Send the screenshot with the costs of your required books to Leslie Strand in the Financial Aid Office via email. Her email address is lstrand@bellevuecollege.edu.
  3. Follow Leslie’s instructions to use your bookstore voucher.

If you will be completing your time at BC before the end of the Spring Quarter and will not be enrolled in the full year, scholarship funds will only be available for the terms you will be attending BC. Any unused portions of your scholarship cannot be added to another term and will be canceled for any terms not enrolled.

You will generally need to be enrolled full-time and meet your college’s Satisfactory Academic Progress policy in order to receive the funding. If you are not enrolled full-time at the start of the term, your scholarship funding will be delayed until the matter has been resolved.

If you are planning to enroll in less than 12 credits for a term, please contact the Foundation at scholarships@bellevuecollege.edu.
