Leadership

A team of students displaying their Paw Putt mini golf station based on Candy Lane.

We engage students in leadership with a goal of providing you with the skills you need to succeed not only in class but in careers and lives as active members of the community! We offer many ways for students to build capacity as leaders — through employment, volunteering, student organizations, and with leadership camps.

Belonging and Resilience Camp (BARC)

We believe that helping students cultivate a sense of belonging and resilience will support their ability to positively impact their peers and get the most out of their student leadership experience.  The BARC Student Leadership Training includes a Student Leadership Challenge self-inventory that allows participants to talk about the Five Practices of Exemplary Leaders and the 30 Practices of Exemplary Leaders as tools for self-discovery and growth.

Participants get to know other staff and students working at the college and develop a deeper understanding of the processes for building community and planning and carrying out events at the college.  We provide light refreshments and lunch each day, with a special surprise on the last day.

The BARC Training includes:

  • The Student Leadership Challenge Model
  • Group Development concepts
  • Campus Event Planning tips
  • Introduction to Student Life Deans
  • Active Listening and Conflict Communication
  • Challenge Activities
  • Networking with Student Leaders
