Education Planning
BAS students are required to create an Education Plan and have it approved by their advisor before they start their first quarter in the BAS program.
An Education Plan is an Excel document that maps out your required courses quarter by quarter. An Education Plan helps stay you on track, avoid graduation delays, and prevent registration issues.
BAS program classes move in a sequence and some classes are only offered once or twice per year. If you miss a sequenced class, your graduation may be delayed.
Students working with other departments on campus (Financial Aid, International, Veteran’s, Workforce, etc.) must also share their finalized plan with that department for approval.
Steps to Create an Education Plan:
- Review Current Degree Requirements in the official Bellevue College catalog.
- Run a What If Report. Watch this step-by-step video tutorial. In ctcLink, click on “Academics” and then “What If Report”. Follow instructions to select your major. For catalog year, select the quarter/year that matches your BAS admission quarter (For example, Baccalaureate, Digital Marketing, Fall 2025). The What If Report will show your completed classes and the classes you have remaining for your major. Submit a ticket to the Evaluations Office if you see an error in transfer credits or other requirements in the report.
- Check the Class Schedule. The schedule of classes is available on the Bellevue College website.
- Create an education using an Excel template. Excel templates are available to current Bellevue College students (login required).
- Send your education plan to your advisor or BAS Program Manager for approval. We recommend checking your education plan every quarter and requesting another review if your education plan has substantially changed.
Check Degree Progress
Students can check their degree progress at anytime in ctcLink using the “What If Report” tool. View this step-by-step video guide on how to run a “What If Report”. When setting up the report, under “Catalog Year”, be ensure to choose your quarter of BAS admission from the drop down menu. Check your BC email for your BAS admission letter if you are unsure which quarter you were admitted (for example, Fall 2024). It is important for students to check your progress on a quarterly basis to ensure you are on track to graduate.
BAS Capstone
All BAS students will complete Capstone classes. For a full guide to Capstone, visit the Capstone section of the Welcome page. Capstone provides the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills in a project-based class sequence. Capstone also allows students to graduate with a year long project which can be highlighted on their resume/portfolio for future employers.
