Ways to Give

How Would You Like to Give?

There are many ways to give – how would you like to donate to BC? We offer many opportunities to assist BC students and find your preferred way to give.

Make a One-Time Donation

What could be easier? We will send your gift to where it is most needed and impactful at the time of donation.

Buy a Brick

With a commemorative brick, your donation will go to support all of our ongoing BC Foundation initiatives. Whether purchased in your name or in honor of another, bricks serve as a permanent legacy on our campus grounds. Bricks may be personalized in two different sizes and are installed in our central courtyard by the iconic water fountain. Order yours today!

Make a Matching Gift

Did you know that 200 or more area companies match charitable gifts by their employees? If your employer is one of them, you can get more bang for your buck, doubling or even tripling the value of your gift. Usually, it only takes a simple form, obtained from your company’s HR office. Fill it out, email it to David Seber, Associate Director of Development, and we’ll take care of the rest. And you will be credited with the value of your gift, plus your company’s match!

Make a Major Gift

Major gifts are contributions of substantial size dedicated toward a specific program or project such as the establishment of a named scholarship, buying specific instructional equipment, or building new facilities. These gifts have a lasting impact on students as they provide opportunities for years to come. Contact Melissa Johnson, Executive Director, BC Foundation, for more information.

Fund a Scholarship

Scholarships are one of our signature programs at the Foundation. There are two ways to contribute to life-changing scholarships for students:

  1. Donate to the BC Foundation Scholarship
  2. Create and name a scholarship

How Can I Donate to the BC Foundation Scholarship?

This program is funded by generous donors that include community members, corporations, alumni, and BC faculty, staff, and students. Scholarships are awarded annually to current and prospective BC students. Scholarship awards are based on academic merit, financial need, personal history, achievement, or for specific areas of study. With one application, students are automatically considered for the majority of our available scholarships. The BC Foundation Scholarship provides funds to incoming and current BC students for the upcoming year (with the exception of summer quarters). Scholarships generally range from $1,000 – $3,000 each.

Students may apply each year that they plan to enroll at BC. The funds can be applied to tuition, fees, and in some cases, books purchased from the BC Campus Bookstore. These scholarships make an enormous difference in the day-to-day life of our students and allow them to focus their energies on their studies, hopes and dreams.

Many donors find this an extremely gratifying way to give. As a donor, you can customize your giving around a general set of requirements, as well as forge a connection with the scholarship recipient if you wish. We encourage this engagement between donor and student by asking the recipient of your scholarship to provide an annual update on their educational experience at BC and how the scholarship funds assisted them throughout the year.

Legacy Giving

Legacy giving, often called “planned giving,” may allow you to make a more meaningful contribution than you ever thought possible. You may be able to leave a deep and lasting legacy for generations of students to come while also qualifying for tax savings and other advantages that may actually increase the value of your estate for your heirs. Legacy giving takes many forms, including bequests, living trusts, and life insurance.

Gifts of Stock, Retirement Income or Other Assets

Consider the advantages of donating stock or other assets. Creative approaches may enable you to give more than you might think while reducing your tax liabilities. This can apply to investments that have increased in value and also to investments that have declined in value, each affording opportunities for substantial tax advantages. We encourage you to discuss options with your financial advisor or to contact us for more information on executing your donation. You can reach us at (425) 564-2664 or foundation@bellevuecollege.edu.

Different Gifts Have Different Benefits

You may also be interested in understanding the particular benefits of each type of gift.

There are ways to avoid tax and boost deductions on your own tax returns, for example. There are online calculators that you can use to estimate the tax benefits to you. We strongly recommend discussing your plans with an accountant who can assist you in understanding and maximizing these benefits so that your gift can assist a Bellevue College student and benefit you at the same time.

We are happy to discuss your thoughts and ideas about giving to Bellevue College. Please reach out to us to make a connection.
