Begin Your Bachelor’s Degree Journey: Transfer Associate Degrees (2+2 Model)

Start your bachelor’s degree by completing the first two years at Bellevue College. Focus on general education and pre-major courses, then transfer to a university anywhere in the U.S. to finish the remaining two years and earn your bachelor’s degree. Duration: Typically 2 years, though it may vary depending on the specific program.

The following programs are eligible for I-20 issuance for both current and future F-1 students.

For Career-Focused Students: Professional and Technical Associate Programs

Begin your specialized education at Bellevue College with our professional and technical associate programs. These programs generally lead directly into one of our bachelor’s programs, allowing completion of an associates and bachelor’s degree in 4 years.

The following programs are eligible for I-20 issuance for both current and future F-1 students.

2-year programs that lead into a 2-year Bellevue College bachelor’s degree following the 2+2 model.

Credit Enrollment for F-1 International Students:

  • Requirement: Enroll in at least 12 credits per quarter.
  • Academic Year Structure: Three required quarters—fall, winter, and spring.

Quarter Length:

  • Fall, Winter, Spring: Approximately 11 weeks each.
  • Summer: About 8 weeks. Note that the amount of material covered is equivalent to other quarters.

Important Notes

  • ¹ Intensive English students have quarterly mandatory fees of $84/quarter and a one-time Placement Test Fee of $32 in the first quarter.
  • ² College-Level students have quarterly mandatory fees of $77/quarter, a one-time International Student Activity fee of $35, and a one-time Placement Test Fee of $32 in the first quarter.

  • ⁴ Room and Board: Payments may not be made to the College if the student is not residing on campus.
  • Tuition: Subject to change without prior notice. Students should plan for possible adjustments in expenses.
    • Pay all tuition and fees by the established deadlines listed on the Academic Calendar. If you don’t pay on time, your classes will be dropped and a drop fee charged.

Student must meet one of the following for direct entry to college-level classes. Students who do not, will begin by taking Intensive English classes:

  • 95 with a Production Score of 75 or higher
  • Incoming college-level students will receive automatic placement into either English 93 or English 101. Students must still enroll in their placement level class.

  • TOEFL has released a new scoring system as of January 21, 2026 and Bellevue College is currently in the process of creating our score equivalences. TOEFL test takers will receive two styles of scores when they receive their results: one from the new 1 to 6 scale, and one from the 0 to 120 scale. The former 1 to 120 scale will be included in TOEFL test results until January 21, 2028, and will continue to be the default scoring scale at Bellevue College until we determine the equivalency. Please reach out to ie@bellevuecollege.edu if you have any questions on the TOEFL scoring system or how to submit your new TOEFL scores to us.

With a grade of “C-“

A valid placement result from another college into the equivalent of BC’s English 101

  • Successful completion of Advanced (C1) level at Kaplan.
  • Successful completion of Level 6 at California Language Academy.
  • Successful completion of Advanced (C1-1) level at EF International Language Schools, Inc.

  • If SAT or ACT taken within the last five years or PSAT taken within the last two years
  • SAT or PSAT Reading/Writing score of 480 or higher
  • ACT Composite score of 22 or higher

Submit a completed application at least two weeks before your grace period ends.

Bellevue College International Education does not provide unofficial transcript reviews prior to admission. Transfer credit evaluations are completed only after a student has been officially admitted to the college.

Transfer Credit Process:

  1. Apply and be admitted to Bellevue College.
  2. Create your student accounts.
  3. Complete a prerequisite clearance (typically 1–2 weeks).
  4. Submit a request to transfer your credits.
    • Evaluations may take 8+ weeks, depending on transcript volume and complexity.
    • Transfer of credits is not guaranteed.
    • Transfer Course Equivalencies: If you cannot find your school or a course you took, it often means that Bellevue College has not reviewed that course yet. We will review the course during your transfer credit evaluation and update the equivalency database if possible.

  • If you’ve graduated high school in your home country and want to enter a college-level program directly, you must submit proof of high school completion:

    • Letter from a school official confirming expected graduation

3. Submit Application

Once all documents are uploaded, click “Submit Application” at the top

Check your email daily. Processing generally takes around 2-weeks.

  • Acceptance packets are emailed and included the I-20, acceptance letter, and the Next Steps students should take.
  • Mailed copies available for a fee. To use express mail, pay via eShipGlobal and upload the air bill with full mailing address to the International Student Portal.
