Building on a legacy of bold firsts, from pioneering bachelor’s degrees to expanding pathways that redefine what a community college can be, Bellevue College now turns that spirit of innovation toward leading our industry’s transformation and reigniting the relevance of higher education.

These guiding principles, mission, and shared values were adopted by the Board of Trustees in Spring 2025. These principles are woven into the fabric of Be Bold. They guide every action and connect every priority.

Leader College of Distinction
Achieving the Dream named Bellevue College a Leader College in 2025 and Leader College of Distinction in 2026, and it has been part of the network since 2017.

Bellevue College values its diverse student community. In 2025, the median student age was 19, 37% of students identified as racially and ethnically diverse, and 25% resided in Bellevue.

Over the next five years, Bellevue College will:
- Increase student completion and transfer rates to 75% for full-time students (within three years for associate degrees and six years for bachelor’s degrees).
- Achieve 85% fall-to-winter retention for all students, reflecting steady progress and engagement across quarters.
- Remove equity gaps in persistence and completion across all racial, income, and enrollment-status groups.
- Sustain post-completion success with at least 65% of students who transfer or complete a Bellevue College bachelor’s program finishing their bachelor’s within six years of initial enrollment.

Faculty and staff are on the frontline of support, always ready to help students achieve their goals. Approximately 1,400 employees worked at Bellevue College in 2025, including 757 faculty and 618 staff.

The college fosters leadership at every level and supports professional growth, ensuring faculty and staff thrive as partners in innovation and transformation.

Bellevue College serves the community by offering high school dual credit, adult basic education, and workforce development. Community Education provides non-credit options. Bellevue College is an integral part of a diverse and dynamic community. Through bold, collaborative partnerships, we expand opportunities, foster innovation, and strengthen regional connections to advance shared economic and social progress.

Over the next five years, Bellevue College will:
- Expand and formalize partnerships across K–12, industry, Tribal, nonprofit, and municipal sectors, increasing the number of active, goal-aligned collaborations by at least 20%.
- Increase experiential learning participation so that a minimum of 25% of students complete an internship, clinical, apprenticeship, or capstone experience with external partners.
- Launch at least three cross-sector initiatives that address critical community needs, such as housing, healthcare, climate resilience, or workforce development.
- Strengthen regional alignment by integrating Bellevue College’s plans with the priorities of Tribal nations, K–12 and transfer institutions, and local governments.

- Reduce process friction and inefficiency by improving turnaround times for key administrative functions (such as hiring, purchasing, and onboarding) by 20%.
- Advance sustainability and resilience, moving the college towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and launching three or more innovations that strengthen long-term institutional and environmental health.
Bellevue College will establish baselines for operational performance, strengthen resource alignment, and demonstrate early progress in efficiency, sustainability, and institutional trust.

Leadership in Sustainability
Bellevue College is a signatory of the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment and has earned national recognition for its leadership in sustainability. The college has achieved a STARS Silver Rating from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) and received a prestigious Climate Leadership Award.
