Dr. Jorge de la Torre has been named Vice President of Administrative Services at Bellevue College.
Dear Bellevue College community,
Please welcome Dr. Jorge de la Torre as Bellevue College’s next Vice President of Administrative Services. He will begin in this role effective July 16, 2024.
Having served as the Vice President of Student Engagement and Support, Special Assistant to the President of Edmonds College, Dr. de la Torre’s dedication, experience and commitment to higher education is impressive. His comprehensive background in education leadership and involvement within the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) system uniquely positions him to contribute to Bellevue College’s mission and vision.
At Edmonds, Dr. de la Torre oversaw a diverse range of departments with significant budgets totaling $9.5 million. From athletics to childcare, Dr. de la Torre has led initiatives to improve student success and completion, all through the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion. He has significant experience in managing MOUs, vending, office space leasing, and community organization rentals, and has worked collaboratively with grounds, facilities, and Public Safety. Having served in the RFP Government Bidding process on SBCTC’s Major Projects Scoring Panel, I am confident in Dr. de la Torre’s ability to navigate complex operational issues.
Some of Dr. de la Torre’s notable accomplishments include his help in founding the Triton Student Resource Hub which houses Edmonds College’s Food Pantry; he led the partnership with Snohomish County Legal Services to provide free legal services to students; and served as the college’s tribal liaison.
Dr. de la Torre will oversee the Administrative Services division, which includes Contracts and Procurement, Public Records, Public Safety, Finance and Auxiliary Services, and Campus Operations. As Vice President of Administrative Services, Dr. de la Torre will serve as the college’s senior business and financial officer while managing the development of all budgets and contract approvals. He will also be responsible for working with those leading physical plant and capital projects.
