Dear Colleagues,

I hope you were able to stay cool during the unprecedented heat wave we experienced in the Pacific Northwest this last week. As Yogi Berra said: “It’s not the heat, it’s the humility!”

Recognizing Juneteenth

Dear BC Community,

On June 19 Bellevue College, and the nation, honors Juneteenth. Congress recently passed legislation to establish June 19 as Juneteenth National Independence Day, and President Joe Biden will sign the bill today. It will be the first national holiday approved since Martin Luther King Jr. Day was established in 1983.

Doug Baldwin Jr. to Speak at BC Commencement

Doug Baldwin Jr., former Seattle Seahawk and Pro Bowler, will address graduates as the keynote speaker for Bellevue College’s virtual commencement ceremonies that will be streamed online Friday, June 25. Recognizing Pride Month

Dear BC Community,

This June, Bellevue College joins the nation, and world, in celebrating Pride Month. It’s a time to recognize the achievements and importance of our LGBTQIA+ communities, raise awareness of the issues and challenges they still face, and honor the 1966 Compton’s Cafeteria Riot in San Francisco which became a catalyst for other LGBT-related protests like the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan and the first Pride March in 1970.
