In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, acclaimed author Ijeoma Oluo will deliver a keynote address at Bellevue College on Wednesday, Jan. 15. Oluo wrote the No. 1 New York Times bestseller “So You Want to Talk About Race,” among other notable titles.
Oluo will present and host a question-and-answer session followed by a book signing. Approximately 75-100 copies of “So You Want to Talk About Race” will be available at the event.
Event organizers chose this year’s event theme, “Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community,” due to America’s recent political climate and the collective desire to come together as a community. The theme is also the title of one of Dr. King’s books.
The event will be held both in person and online between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM in Room 301, U Building on campus. The Bellevue College Concert Choir, a large choral ensemble of singers who are both music majors and non-music majors, will perform at the event. Catering will be provided by the Caribbean restaurant Island Soul.
