Postponed: College to Host “Never Again is Now: A Permanent Commitment” Ceremony May 14

Ceremony to Feature Speakers, Musicians, and More 

Bellevue College will hold a ceremony for the permanent installation of the Never Again is Now mural on campus on Thursday, May 14, 2026. The ceremony, titled “Never Again is Now: A Permanent Commitment,” seeks to honor the work of Seattle artist and activist Erin Shigaki while committing to learning from past injustices and mistakes made throughout history. 

The mural depicts two Japanese American children on the day they are being forced into a World War II American incarceration camp. The permanent piece will also include historical information on the impact WWII and Japanese incarceration had on Japanese immigrants in the Pacific Northwest.
