Local, state and national meetings
Dec 24, 2015One of the ways in which I work to represent the college is through active participation on boards and committees. Through these organizations I am better able to understand local, state and national trends and ensure a Bellevue College presence in discussions that can directly affect our campus.
In future updates, I will continue to share with you some of the initiatives being discussed in these meetings that are of interest to our campus community. During this academic year, I am engaged with the following boards and committees:
Local
- Bellevue Chamber of Commerce– Represent the College as the local higher education institution
- Bellevue Rotary – Networking with local business leaders for purposes of business relations, fund raising, and service
- Lake Washington Symphony Orchestra– Networking and personal interest in symphonies
State
Washington Association of Community and Technical Colleges (WACTC)
- Operating Budget Committee – Makes recommendations to the CTC Presidents (WACTC) concerning financial issues related to the overall operating budgets
- Critical Issues Committee– To explore potential adoption of offering BS degrees within the CTC
National
American Association of Community Colleges (AACC)
- AACC Commission on Diversity, Inclusion and Equity – Creation and promotion of national diversity initiatives
- AACC Sustainability Task Force – Creation and promotion of sustainable practices
- AACC Higher Education Reauthorization Task Force – Working toward the adoption of HEA at the federal level
COMBASE
- Board of Directors– Organization dedicated to sharing innovation among peer institutions
- Community Colleges for International Development (CCID)
- Board of Directors – “global network of community, technical, and vocational institutions dedicated to creating globally engaged learning environments”
