Payment Plan: Frequently Asked Questions

We provide answers to frequently asked questions related to our payment plan.

Students walk on BC's campus.

When should I sign up for the Payment Plan?

You must sign up for the payment plan by 5pm on your initial tuition due date to avoid being dropped from your classes. Check the academic calendar for quarter specific due dates.

What if my bank or credit card declines the payment?

Nelnet Campus Commerce charges a $30 returned payment fee each time your bank or credit/debit card payment fails due to lack of funds. A missed payment due to lack of funds is automatically processed again on the 20th (of the same month) and 5th day of the following month after the missed payment.

Failure to bring your account current can result in a hold that prevents enrollment for an upcoming quarter, in addition to possible referral to a collection agency.

How does adding or dropping classes affect my payment plan?

If your balance changed due to adding a class, your payment plan is adjusted automatically provided there are at least ten business days before your next payment. You can call Nelnet Campus Commerce at 1-800-609-8056 to check your balance. If you need your balance adjusted due to adding a class, please email sfs@bellevuecollege.edu at least three business days before your next payment is due.

If your balance needs to be adjusted due to dropping a class and you are eligible for a refund, you can ask for a balance adjustment by emailing sfs@bellevuecollege.edu at least three business days before your next payment is due. Please note that if you drop a class, or classes after the published refund dates (check the academic calendar for refund dates), you continue to owe the full balance on your payment plan.

What happens if I receive financial aid after I sign up for the payment plan?

If your balance has changed due to receiving financial aid your payment plan is adjusted automatically, but there may be a delay in the adjustment. You can call Nelnet Campus Commerce at 1-800-609-8056 to check your balance. If you need your balance adjusted due to adding a class, please email sfs@bellevuecollege.edu at least three business days before your next payment is due.

How do refunds affect my payment plan?

Refunds are based on the published refund dates located on the academic calendar. If you are on the payment plan and are eligible for a refund, it is paid through the payment plan by check and mailed to the address on file, regardless of the payment method used.

If you drop a class, or classes after the published refund dates (check the academic calendar), you continue to owe the full balance on your payment plan.

What costs are covered under this plan?

The Payment Plan covers tuition and class fees that are charged at the time of enrollment. Housing charges along with the application and deposit fees are automatically included in the payment plan. Opting out of including housing charges is not allowed. No other college fees or charges can be added or included in the payment plan.

When will monthly payments begin?

Monthly payments are processed based on the payment schedule you selected in the sign-up process. If your payment date falls on a weekend or banking holiday the payment is processed on the next business day

When does my payment show up on my student account?

Payments are posted to student accounts within seven days.

If my balance is zero, do I need to alert the college or Nelnet to stop taking payments from my account?

If your balance is zero at least three business days prior to your scheduled payment, no withdrawals from your bank account or charges to your credit card is made.

Can I change my bank account or credit card information?

Yes, update payment information online through your payment plan account or call Nelnet at (800) 609-8056. Please note: you cannot change withdrawals from a bank account to a credit/debit card or vice versa.

What if I activate a new credit or debit card (even if the only difference is the expiration date)?

You MUST immediately update card information online through your payment plan account or contact Nelnet at 1-800-609-8056 or you run the risk of your payment failing. This will result in a $30 fee.

What if my payment plan was inactivated due to incorrect account information?

You must contact Nelnet at 1-800-609-8056 to update your account information. The payment plan website is not available for making changes to inactive accounts.
