Oceanography, AAS-DTA

Oceanography is the study of the Earth’s oceans, including all its living and non-living components. Oceanographers might study ocean currents, waves and tides, marine ecosystems, underwater volcanoes, or the impact of humans on the ocean. There are many sub-disciplines within this science, leading to careers such as fisheries scientist, environmental consultant, research scientist, ocean engineer, marine policy analyst, marine conservationist, and more. Either the general associate degree (AAS-DTA) or the Science, Track I pathway are suitable for students interested in oceanography. Consult with an advisor to see which pathway fits your possible transfer schools best!

Course Maps

A course map is a quick guide to help students figure out which courses to take each quarter. Course maps were written by BC faculty, who have used their expertise to recommend specific courses students can take to achieve their academic or career goals. Students should meet with an advisor to learn more.
