Dear Colleagues,
This October we celebrate Latino Heritage Month! Many thanks to the hard work of students, student clubs, faculty and staff who have planned an exciting lineup of events throughout the month highlighting Latino political representation, entrepreneurship, the fight for social justice and workers’ rights, access to education, and much more. And each Wednesday, virtual lunches celebrating Latino leaders will be held, beginning with civil rights activist and United Farm Workers Union of America co-founder Dolores Huerta. Please share with your students and colleagues!

Exciting Activities Lined Up for Japan Week
Bellevue College students, faculty and staff have been hard at work creating an exciting lineup of events for the college’s 5th Annual Japan Week that will be held Oct. 4-9.

"Salam Awad was born and raised in Yakima. Her parents live here, and she continues to live here, working remotely as she begins her new job as an assistant professor of political science at Bellevue College near Seattle.

The Flu Team, Cabinet, and I are working to finalize the College’s vaccination protocol based on the new proclamation from Governor Inslee that vaccinations are required for all higher education employees.

"Bellevue announced Friday that 50 students who were eligible each received a scholarship of either $250 or $400 for the fall quarter. To spur the unvaccinated, the Bellevue College Foundation dangled the $400 for students to get a first shot between July 1 and 22."

There is nothing more important than the health and safety of our BC community. We recently announced that Bellevue College will require vaccinations for all students, faculty, and staff coming onto campus for work, study or use of facilities beginning Fall Quarter. Please help us comply with current guidance from county, state, and national health officials.
