Kinesiology and Exercise Science, AAS-T
The Associate of Applied Science-Transfer (AAS-T) degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science provides an in-depth, applied education designed to prepare students for rewarding careers in the health and fitness field. This program lays a strong foundation in the study of human movement and the physiological responses to exercise, equipping students with the necessary knowledge and skills for a variety of professional roles such as athletic trainer, fitness specialist, health promotion specialist, and many more. Graduates can pursue employment in health and fitness positions or transfer to degree programs. Students wishing to transfer should discuss this program with academic advisors.

Amy Swanson

Professor Amy Swanson, MPH, is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University with a BS in Exercise Science and Wellness. She strives to use her real-life experiences to enhance her classroom teaching. Having been in the field for many years, Professor Swanson aims to make daily connections to what students are interested in or passionate about. She is committed to teaching and guiding professional, hardworking, and quality fitness instructors so they may enter the field and change lives.

Mark Yoshino
- Health & Physical Education Full-Time Faculty
Mark Yoshino is a Senior Associate Professor and one of the longest-tenured employees at Bellevue College as he has been part of the institution for nearly 30 years. Mark has been the BC baseball coach since 1999. He is also the former chair of the NWAC Executive Board; the governing body for all community college student-athletes in the Pacific Northwest. He is the only person in the NWAC to win the conference’s top honor as a student-athlete (1989), coach (2007, 2009, 2011), and administrator (2013).

Hadise Khaniyan

Dr. Hadise Khaniyan is currently a full-time, Assistant Professor at Bellevue College. She has been working as a researcher and an instructor in the health promotion field since 2009. Dr. Khaniyan believes each person has a unique greatness and unlimited potential locked inside themselves. It is her life’s mission to help those she works with believe in this potential and unleash it on the world. It is very important for her to provide a classroom environment where students are encouraged to express their own ideas and participate in their educational experience.

Michelle McRae
- Health & Physical Education Faculty Member
Michelle McRae is a Lead Fitness Technician and an Adjunct PE Faculty member for the Fitness Center at Bellevue College. After completing BC’s Personal Fitness Trainer Certificate program and becoming a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, she enjoyed the program and people of Bellevue College so much she stayed on as staff and an instructor for the PE Life Fitness courses. Now, she finds tremendous satisfaction supporting BC students in finding fitness activities that they enjoy and that enhance their personal pursuits.
