• I received a letter informing me that I am on Academic Intervention. What do I do?
  • You are automatically enrolled into an online student success workshop located in Canvas.
  • You are required to complete this workshop in order to continue with classes at Bellevue College.
  • A hold is placed on your account until the workshop is completed.

• Will I be dropped from my current quarter classes if I am on academic intervention?
  • No. You are not dropped from your courses during the quarter you are placed on this level.

• What happens if I don’t complete the online workshop during the quarter I am on academic intervention?
  • A hold is placed on your account until the workshop is completed.
  • If you earn a quarterly Grade Point Average below a 2.0 during the quarter you are enrolled in the workshop, you are placed on Academic Credit Restriction the following quarter.

• How do I access the online workshop?
  • You are automatically enrolled into the online workshop. Check your current courses in Canvas to see if you are enrolled.
  • If you do not see the workshop, you can enroll yourself by visiting the Canvas Enrollment Enrollment page.
  • If you still have trouble enrolling into the workshop, email ssi@bellevuecollege.edu and include your name and student ctcLink ID in your message.

• I’m having technical issues and am unable to access the workshop?
  • Contact the Technology Help Desk at 425-564-HELP if you have trouble with your BC email or if you are having technical issues.

• What is Academic Credit Restriction?
  • The college places you on academic credit restriction at the end of the third quarter in which your overall or quarter GPA falls below a C average (2.0). 
  • While on academic credit restriction you must limit your enrollment to eight (8) credits. This means you must adjust your class schedule as directed by the college
• How Do I Register for classes if I am on Credit Restriction?
  • Each quarter you must complete the form linked below and submit it to the college until you achieve an overall GPA of at least 2.0. 

• How can I appeal to take more than eight (8) credits?
  • Your credit limit will automatically be raised to 10 credits when you have had two(2) consecutive quarters earning a quarterly GPA of 2.0 or higher. Complete an appeal if you want to appeal your restriction before you have met this requirement.
  • Your credit restriction is taken off when your cumulative GPA is a 2.0 or higher.

• How long will it take for my appeal to be reviewed?
  • Allow three to four weeks for your appeal to be reviewed and a decision to be made. To determine where Student Central is in processing your appeal, please refer to the Student Central Processing Dashboard. Scroll down to the Appeals section.
  • Contact Student Central for any appeal related questions.   

• What can I do if I received a letter informing me that I have been academically dismissed from the college ?
  • The college places you on academic dismissal at the end of the fourth quarter in which your overall or quarter GPA falls below a C average (2.0). 
  • You may appeal your dismissal by using the Student Central Appeal Form.
  • If your appeal is approved, you are placed back on academic restriction.

• What am I required to include in my appeal?
  • Submit an education plan signed by an advisor documenting the classes to be taken during the next four quarters. Note: If you are a Running Start student, you need to meet with your Running Start Academic Advisor. 
  • Before meeting with an Academic Advisor review your academic record and receive any Math or English placements for your program.
  • Outline a plan for how your GPA will improve to at least a C average (2.0) over the next four quarters.
  • Provide documentation of the circumstances that prevented successful completion of coursework.

• How long will it take for my appeal to be reviewed?
  • Allow 3 to 4 weeks for your appeal to be reviewed and a decision made.

• What is Academic Renewal?
  • Students returning to Bellevue College after a break in taking credit classes may petition for academic renewal. Academic renewal replaces all original grades earned in select quarters with a grade of “X,” which is not included in the calculation of your Bellevue College Grade Point Average. What should I do if I’m not making academic progress and I am on Financial Aid?

• If you are a student on Financial Aid, contact the Financial Aid office to check if your current academic standing has impacted your aid.
